Burnt Timber Brewing & Tavern to Host Wassail Fest

Enjoy smoked bbq, sour ale and farmhouse ale in a Wolfeboro, NH restaurant and brewery with a scratch kitchen and beer garden

Wassail Fest

“The festival is inspired from the now rarely practiced custom of wassailing.”

On Saturday, December 19 from 3 pm to 5 pm, Burnt Timber Brewing & Tavern in Wolfeboro will host Wassail Fest, which will feature warm mulled wassail, song and more. “We will have our own version of a wassail king and queen, who will lead folks in singing songs that might have been sung at wassailing ceremonies ” said Owner Eddie Michno.

The festival is inspired from the now rarely practiced custom of wassailing, a Medieval Christmastide English drinking ritual meant to ensure a good cider apple harvest the following year. “Ian Craveiro from Bartlett Tree Services will be here providing attendants with free apple seedlings and the care instructions for apple trees,” added Michno.

In addition to warm mulled wassail (cider), the event will feature a food special of pork schnitzel (breaded fried pork chops served with a lemon wedge) and apple sauce. “It’s going to be festive and fun -- we need to spread as much cheer as possible this holiday season,” he said.
